“Dear Coach,
I’m sorry but our family plans have changed this season and XXXX won’t be playing soccer this season.”
I love those e-mails. Its worse when they sign up, but then never show, never reply to phone calls or e-mails.

Yep.
Parents – all coaches hate to see players leave because we worry if it was something we did or didn’t do – but don’t avoid telling us. The sooner you do, the easier it is for us to find a replacement and keep the team viable. We’re big boys and girls and can take it 🙂 Delaying it helps nobody.

Why would you want to force your kids to do something they don’t want to do? I think that the kids will find what they like at some point.
You need to let them try so that they can find their own way though.

Actually, you find that while sometimes its what you describe, with others, at this young age, the kids like to play, but sometimes have trouble with the coaching style. So they drop and try again hoping they end up with a coach they are comfortable with.
