The National Federation of State High School Associations is looking to take coaching education online in partnership with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The course is called Fundamentals of Coaching Soccer and will be offered in the Fall of 2009. More information can be found at the NFHS Learning Center.
You have to wonder if this is the beginning of national soccer associations taking some parts of coaching education online. Certainly many of the introductory courses could be taught online or at least shortened with the addition of an online component. Field work/training is still VERY important, but it might be interesting to see if at least the introductory stuff could be put online to increase participation. You would be amazed how hard it is to get coaches to sometimes take a six hour course on a Saturday!
