I happened to be browsing through some new soccer blogs over at SoccerBlogs.net, and came across the ultimate motto for youth soccer. Touchline Dad has a son who plays for Crosby Stuart FC. Their motto?
To Enjoy, Not Destroy
Can’t put it any clearer than that! A number of people who stand along the touchline need to remember that…

Thanks for the plug for Touchline Dad and the kind words about Crosby Stuart’s motto – To Enjoy, Not Destroy. Although the club is competitive in many ways, there is a no-nonsense policy towards parents and other touchline supporters who criticise. Football or soccer (as its known across the Atlantic) continues to grow in popularity and some mums and dads think they can make a fortune from their kids, rather than seeing the sport as a way of encouraging healthy living, team spirit and fun. I’ll keep an eye out for On The Pitch from here in Liverpool, England. Good luck. P.S. How’s our boy Becks getting on?

Becks is doing great! His first start, he scored a beautiful bending free kick from 25yds out in the Superliga match between the LA Galaxy and DC United. A recent match between the NY Red Bulls and the LA Galaxy ended in a 5-4 win for the Bulls, but was one of the best MLS matches in recent memory, in part due to how well Becks and Landon Donovan are playing together. Beck’s mere presence on the team seems to have caused other LA players to step it up a notch.
So far – its been very good for the MLS
