Two years ago I fired up WordPress and decided to give blogging a go. I honestly didn’t think I’d make it 6 months. Granted, I don’t post daily – just don’t have the time. But hopefully I’m posting enough to keep it interesting for all 20 of you including you there in the back. I’ll admit I’ve enjoyed tinkering with WordPress almost as much as I have writing content. But in the end it’s the content that’s key, so hopefully I can ‘keep it fresh’ and ‘keep it real’!
Here’s to making it another two years! Care to come along for the ride?

The great thing about blogging these days is RSS feeds. As more people continue to read blogs and websites through subscription-based services like RSS, the less demand there will be on individual bloggers to post daily just to keep things ‘fresh’.
So, RSS has several effects:
* allows part-time bloggers to still get heard, even when they’re not posting daily to help ‘build an audience’
* bloggers can take more time to compose lengthier pieces if they wish, because they don’t have to rush new articles to their blog
* readers waste less time because they don’t go to websites and/or blogs anymore – they just get what’s new in their RSS Inbox
* the barrier to entry to blogging essentially falls because more people will be willing to try it knowing that there’s a chance they will get read/heard, even if they’re not blogging daily
* lower barrier to entry to blogging means more and varied voices; right now, it seems the blogosphere, at least the stuff i read, is still predominantly while upperclass male.
* RSS makes it easy for other folks to cross-promote each other’s work
* RSS makes it easy for user-ratings sites like Diggs to get attention to non-corporate entities.
In short, lots of good things going on with blogging.
Congrats on two years!

I’m just hanging around waiting for my Mebane Strikers shirt 🙂

HAHAHA Oh You’ll get one – we’re still trying to get rid of the old ones 🙂 Once we get the new ones made up – you’ll have it! I’m hoping we’ll order the new style this summer. Re-branding is a pain!
