U.S. Soccer Just Can’t Score

I missed this late last night when gathering up various columns and articles about Klinsmann. Steve Dilbeck let loose a broadside against US Soccer titled U.S. Soccer Just Can’t Score in the LA Daily News, one many feel they deserve. Here’s a sampling:

The U.S. national team has simply vanished from view. It hasn’t played a [...]

USSF + MLS = Coaching Fiasco

MightyMouse over at BigSoccer has an interesting insight from ESPN espanol this morning:

The real reason Klinsmann walked away from the deal, according to ESPN espanol this morning, was that Klinsmann asked for guarantees from both the USSF and MLS that he would get the players he wanted for the upcoming tournaments. According to a reporter [...]

The conversation was an informal one (apparently Sunil was picking up his kid from a soccer game). Now you take a post like [...]

Wishful Thinking

A number of people at BigSoccer are hoping that Klinsmann’s email is a hardball negotiating tactic. No way. Here is what Klinsmann sent the press:

"Sunil [Gulati] and I have concluded our discussions about the U.S. men’s national team program, and I have withdrawn my name from consideration [...]

BOOM

Just when you thought it was safe to start thinking about the USMNT and their new coach with some serious pedigree. BOOM. It all goes to pieces. I could add to the echo chamber of people saying ‘HUH?’, but instead direct you to An American’s View On Soccer. What Brian Says:

The USMNT lays down worse [...]

US Mens Soccer Coach Pool – Place Yer Bets

With all the rampant speculation regarding the USMNT coaching search, what better way to pass the days than to speculate some more! Lets do a multi question ‘pool’ regarding the search for fame, pseudo fortune, and the accolades of your fellow soccer bloggers!
Of course as soon as I publish this, Gulati will probably make up [...]
