One of the guys brought a PUMA ball that has the most bizarre stitching pattern I've seen:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000G1E702?ie=UTF8&tag=becauisaidso-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000G1E702" rel="nofollow">Puma V3.06 NFHS Soccer Ball</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=becauisaidso-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000G1E702" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

It's surface is dimpled like a golf ball and it has curved panels stitched around small circles. It's got an average 'touch' but wow this thing can knuckle downward like a rocket.

Yes, the cheaper ones are definitely not bad for the price. When Teamgeist dude didn't show up, everyone wanted to play with my ball. (That starts to sound wrong...)

Yup - though the cheaper adidas balls with the normal stitching pattern and Teamgeist patterns are nice practice balls. My son's coach got a bunch for his team and they are very soft compared to other balls with a slicker surface. But none compare to a real one for sure.

One of the guys I played pickup with over the summer had one. I loved the way it bounced. I have one that's painted to look like a Teamgeist, but it's just not the same. :)

One of the regulars at our weekly pickup games got one and it really is a NICE ball to play. Soft, easy to kick. He got it for a steal - apparently a local soccer gear place had one that was somehow damaged (scuff mark, scratch, crushed box, not sure) and he got it for TEN BUCKS. Almost criminal.

If my employment situation ever gets better - a TG will be at the top of my splurge list.
