Parents behaving badly - it’s not just something soccer leagues have to deal with. All youth sports have them. Well, the folks at Hockey Canada, the national amatuer hockey association up north, have produced a number of promotional ads designed to get parents to think about how they behave at hockey matches. They are excellent and are generic enough to send to parents in ANY sport. The campaign is called Relax, It’s Just A Game. One of my soccer parents passed this on to me. You can view the ads from 2003 and 2004. I’ve included two of my favorites via Google Video below. If you’re looking for the one that’ll make parents the most uncomfortable, send the one called "Pin The Tail". I’ve seen this behavior live and in person.

Pass them on.

  2. Great stuff. I know some nutcase soccer parents that need to see these vidoes. Too bad they probably would not pay attention and the only one that would “get it” are the parents that are never a problem.
