OK – I know I’m a day late with this, but fell asleep at like 4PM yesterday and slept for 14 hours! MTV turned 25 yesterday so in honor, here’s the first video they ever played.

Yeah, I know – absolutely nothing to do with soccer, but I couldn’t resist. Now you’ll have that song in your head ALL DAY! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Weird trivia tidbits…

  • The lead singer from The Buggles, Trevor Horn, joined Yes and recorded one album before Yes broke up (fans didn’t like the change). He later helped found The Art of Noise.
  • The Buggles keyboardist Geoff Downes also had a short lived stint with Yes and later joined Asia and is still with them (25th anniversary tour).
  • While often thought of as a one album band, The Buggles did release a second album, ‘Adventures in Modern Recording‘
  • In ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’, Horn says what sounds like ‘Do not blame my VCR’ However VCRs hadn’t really taken off yet and he actually said ‘VTR’, the machines used in TV and video production.
